Cook Out The Vote
We Throw Parties At The Polls During Elections!
Civic institutions, like voting, are only as strong as the networks that support them, and our collective insistence that they remain relevant and vibrant. But voting is set up to be a chore, and now it's under attack.
We can change and save it! Let's reimagine voting, and adorn it like our most enduring traditions with food, music, art, and community. Cook Out The Vote's core mission is to connect those networks to voting and give it the fanfare it deserves. Food, music, and art connect us all, reflect our culture, and are acts of expression. It's the extra spice voting needs.
What We Do
We bring food, music, arts, and the community together to have block party voting festivals at polls sites during elections. Cook Out The Vote connects different aspects of our communities to protect and strengthen voting as an institution. We raise funds for events throughout voting periods—both festival-style celebrations and smaller events. We showcase local restaurants, musicians, entertainers, and artists. We offer free samples of food to the community as a thank you. We collect data about voter experience, especially wait times, to create better data for policy folks to work from. We educate youth about voting as a political process.
We advocate for easier, better voting for all.
